Careers and Higher Education Guidance
Career Cards

The careers programme in GUST Secondary aims to give students advice and guidance to help them make informed choices about future academic subjects, Higher Education options and careers.

In Years 7 and 8 students are introduced, during PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) lessons to the concept of thinking ahead to formulate goals and ambitions.

In Years 9 and 10 follow-up presentations are conducted and further guidance is given by their teachers and the Senior Leadership Team.

Year 11 students are invited to attend a Careers Fayre and receive external careers guidance from qualified professionals.

All students receive careers based input taught through cross-curricular links and topics throughout the year. This gives students the opportunity to study and practice important skills such as CV writing and interview techniques whilst gaining a better understanding of which career path they wish to take.
