Emily Wilding Davison
This term our topic is 20th Century Britain. We will be studying several major events in British history over the summer term and this week we kicked it off with the Suffragette Movement. We discovered that one of the most famous suffragettes had her roots in Morpeth so we went along to visit her memorial at Carlisle Park. We went on to research Emily Davison in order to write a biography for her. We learned all about the brave acts she carried out in order to get voting rights for women and were shocked that such extreme acts were necessary. We made some fantastic presentations to share our learning and feel thankful that women like her were brave enough to try and make a change.
