Duke of Edinburgh Residential

Our Duke of Edinburgh students recently enjoyed an unforgettable expedition filled with adventure, teamwork and new experiences.

The journey began in Nenthead, where students used maps and compasses to navigate their way to Carrshield Camping Barn. Along the way, they developed their navigation skills, worked together and showed fantastic resilience.

During their overnight stay, the students collected firewood, built a campfire, roasted marshmallows and explored the nearby nature reserve, built around an old mine. They also enjoyed playing in a natural pool within a local stream before cooking breakfast together on the camping stove the following morning.

On the way back to school, the group visited the historic towns of Hexham and Corbridge, where they explored local landmarks,.

This expedition was especially significant as many of our students have SEND, and for some it was their first time staying away from home or exploring the countryside in this way. We are incredibly proud of how they embraced every challenge, supported one another and grew in confidence throughout the trip.

Well done to all our amazing Duke of Edinburgh participants for a fantastic achievement!
