Blyth Battery

As part of our local history study into World War 2, we visited Blyth Battery. We had no idea so much was happening in our region during this war. We learned how important Blyth was as a result of its port. Partly because of the coal being produced in the region but also because it was a deep water port and was a likely landing point for the Nazi's. We learned about the bomb proof base and the guns that were positioned there, ready to fend off any unwanted visitors.
