Our nurture learners recently enjoyed an exciting educational visit to Whitehouse Farm, where they experienced a fun-filled day packed with hands-on activities, outdoor adventure and opportunities to build confidence.
One of our favourite moments was an animal handling session, giving everyone the chance to meet and hold a variety of friendly animals. Many of our learners challenged themselves by holding guinea pigs, mice, rabbits, lizards and even snakes. For some, this was a huge step outside of their comfort zone, and it was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they discovered that these animals were gentle and fascinating to interact with.
We also had the opportunity to feed the hungry goats and sheep, learning about how farm animals are cared for while enjoying some close-up encounters with our four-legged friends. The excitement continued with a tractor ride through the beautiful countryside, where learners took in the sights of the farm and enjoyed the fresh air as they travelled through the fields.
Of course, no trip to Whitehouse Farm would be complete without making the most of the fantastic play facilities. Learners showed great determination as they challenged themselves on the giant slide, enjoyed bouncing high on the jumping pillows and raced each other around the track on the go-karts. Throughout the day, there were countless smiles, laughter and opportunities for learners to develop their teamwork, communication and resilience while simply having fun together.
Visits like these are an important part of life at GUST, providing meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom. They encourage learners to develop independence, build positive relationships, overcome personal challenges and create lasting memories.
We are incredibly proud of all our learners for representing the school so positively and embracing every opportunity the day had to offer. A huge thank you to the staff at Whitehouse Farm for making our visit such an enjoyable and memorable experience.
